Music Clinic.

After so long, i've finally decided to join a singing competition again. - Starting from a small scale one.

Today was the audition day. My audition slot was at 305pm, and naively thinking everyone would be on time and follow their timeslot, i went there 5 mins earlier thinking that i would be able to get it over and done with by 330 max. I was wrong haha! Turns out there were 10 others ahead of me.

The main reason that made me joined this competition was because it was organized by my previous music school, Music Clinic. Had vocal lessons there before when i was 15, right after Teenage Icon competition. I really loveeeeeee that place alot, and i've learnt so much from the teachers there, especially peter laoshi who keeps on saying i had to work on my pitching last time haha! Oh how i miss those daaaayyyys.

As i stepped into Music Clinic after 3 years, that familiar scent of the place greeted me and it felt as though it was gushing to me like a long lost friend screaming "WELCOME BACKKK" Receptionist was still as friendly, and i was registered. Saw a few familiar faces there that i've met from my previous competitions and nick was there as well! Nick is arielle's friend who sings damn well and he'd probably win this competition. Anyway,  for this competition, out of all that is joining, only 10 will be selected and they will be called and notified latest by monday, 20th june. So basically i was abit taken aback when i saw and heard a few good singers.

When i entered the audition room, it was only peter laoshi as the judge and i greeted him by "hello peter laoshiiiiii!!" and he actually said "aye... 你很熟 , 见过或教过你吗?" Basically he told me i was familiar and asked if he has seen or taught me before. Can you imagine the excitement in me that my teacher actually remembered me after so long!? Then i tried explaining and reliving his memory of how i got here through welson, teenage icon, blahblahblah and finally it was as though everything came back into his memory and he just told me "wah! 你长大了！真的长大了!" (You've grown up!) and i was like saying its been 3 years, i should have grown up already hahahha.

So anyway, he told me okay start. So i sang my first piece Price tag by Jessie J on the guitar and before the song he was still asking me who is jessie j. I replied "一个 pop singer that is famous for this song" hahah broken english and chinese lol. When I started, he suddenly jerked his head and looked at me and smiled and the thing is... I can't take stares. :/ That's my weakness and it got me all nervous. He told me to sing my 2nd piece and err... i didn't perform as well cause i was not as prepared.

After it all, he told me that he felt it was good, but i lacked the confidence and i needed to get used to people looking at me and being there alone on stage with people staring at me. Basically, i needed more competition experience. 

Next is the highlight of this post!

Peter laoshi actually asked me to join this vocal class which will be specially trained and have alot of opportunities to perform outside for events or basically to represent Music Clinic. I was stunned because i just checked the website a few mins ago, and it is only open to those who are supposed to go for an audition which was in march. Meaning to say, not everyone can join this class, and audition had already ended. That really touched me alot because finally for once, my self-esteem towards my singing capabilities increased.

I feel this competition is really an open door for me. Now, whether i make it into the competition finals (they just pick the top 10 straight) does not matter anymore. What matters most to me is that my teacher actually still remembers me, and that he thinks i have improved alot and actually asked me if i would like to join the special performance class.

So yupp, it is true people! When you take one step towards God, he will take HIS one step towards you.

I'm  really so glad and so blessed to be given his talent and opportunity (: just wanted to share my joy. Time check now is 4.45am and i'm still wide awake because i'm just so excited about today.

I did quite a childish thing before i left the audition room. I actually stood there by the door, stared at peter laoshi, and said "Peter laoshi i reeeeeaaalllllyyy miss you lot!!!" and he was like "come back la!" and smiled at me. hahahah awwww can you imagine my joy. I miss that place so much (':
